Blythewood Historical Society Celebrates Black History Month

Black History Month Celebration

The Blythewood Historical Society’s Black History Month Celebration committee has been hard at work planning our annual event, “A Celebration of History, Education, Music & the Arts”. The celebration at Doko Manor is scheduled for Saturday, February 23rd at 1:30.

We will recognize the Town of Blythewood’s churches as well as our “wisest elders”. The community is invited to hear special guests, Mr. Bobby Cunningham and Dr. Joe Kelly, plus fabulous music with EboniRamm, the Bethel Baptist Church Choir, Pine Grove Church Youth Choir and Jason Lloyd, who you may remember from the Christmas tree lighting when the Mayor challenged him to sing… having never heard his incredible voice.

The Westwood High School dancers will be there with their creative dance numbers. Viola Sanders has a wonderful presentation and exhibit to share, plus a young speaker, Ky-Brian, known for his “I Have a Dream” speech. Come check out our vendors, great refreshments and more. We would love for our members to come and support the community and the BHS&M as we present this event.
