Bill Shives honored by City of Columbia

Photos from top to bottom above caption a wonderful honor to Blythewood resident Bill Shives by the City of Columbia as they renamed the intersection at 5200 Colonial Drive in Columbia Bill Shives Way.

Mayor Steve Benjamin (pictured at the top) represented the City of Columbia in recognizing Bill and the Shives family for the many years of service to countless families in the Midlands at this same “immacuately kept” location within the City in unveiling the naming designation.

Bill Shives has been a key part of the Shives Funeral Home since 1967 and in the funeral business for 71 years and is shown thanking the City for this recognition as well as noting the pleasure to have been a part of serving the many families of the community in his acceptance of this honor.

The subsequent pictures show the unveiling of the new signage then with Bill and his wife Barbara in the photo with the Mayor and Columbia City Councilman Sam Davis.

Congratulations to Blythewood’s own Bill Shives for a well deserved honor for the always impeccably “best dressed man in Blythewood”.

Thank you to Bill and the entire Shives “family” for your years of community service and constant support of our Chamber.
