Town of Blythewood Christmas Parade

25th Anniversary – “Back to our Roots”

Sunday, December 12, 2021

3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

“Christmas Remembered” by Harold Branham
We are told that the 1996 inaugural Blythewood Christmas Parade, created by well known communty pioneers, featured local donkeys pulling a cart through the streets of Blythewood culminating with candy canes, loaded in the cart, being passed out to children of all ages at our post office parking lot.
Upon finding that we were to organize the 2021 Parade, we immediately settled on “Back to our Roots” as this year’s theme.
Harold Branham’s “Christmas Remembered” print captures “Old Joe” the mule, in seeing the Santa hat on the fence post, thinking of the longstanding tradition of Santa Billy Raines riding him into Blythewood bringing gifts much like the greatest gift of all to mankind arriving in Bethlehem on the very first Christmas on the back of a donkey.
“Old Joe” has passed on now but “Lincoln” has proudly offered, as our mule for this year, to step in and commemorate our Blythewood tradition by pulling his cart (and Santa) through our streets to usher in this Christmas season to the Blythewood community.
Please join with us in celebrating this 25th anniversary and our traditons with our “Back to our Roots” theme for the 2021 Town of Blythewood Christmas Parade on Sunday.
Mr. Branham’s collection of his Christmas originals will be on display for viewing at the Blythewood Historical Society and Museum following the Parade.
